What Is a Denture Consultation?

A denture consultation is your first appointment with a denturist. It is a relaxed conversation, not a sales pitch. You meet Enrique Parodi, see our clinic at 226 Speedvale Ave W in Guelph, and talk about what is bothering you: missing teeth, a loose or broken denture, sore gums, or simply wanting a better smile.

As a Registered Denturist, Enrique is the professional who examines, designs, makes, fits and repairs removable dentures. That means the person who advises you is the same person who will make your denture, from the first impression to the final fitting.

What We Cover in Your Consultation

1. Your goals and concerns

We start by listening. How do your current teeth or dentures feel when you eat and speak? What would you like to change about your smile? Do you have a budget or a timeline in mind?

2. A look at your mouth and current denture

Enrique checks your gums, remaining natural teeth and, if you have one, your existing denture: its fit, bite, wear and comfort. Learn more about our oral examination.

3. Your denture options, explained simply

Most patients have more than one good option. We compare them side by side so you can choose with confidence:

OptionBest for
Complete or immediate denturesReplacing all teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
Partial denturesReplacing one or more missing teeth while keeping your natural teeth.
Implant-supported denturesExtra stability for a denture that moves, especially the lower one.
Soft liner denturesSensitive, flat or sore gums that do not tolerate a hard denture base.
Reline or repairA denture that is still good but loose, cracked or worn.

4. Costs and coverage

We give you a clear quote and check what your coverage can pay: the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), private dental insurance or ODSP. With the CDCP, dentures can be covered up to 100%, depending on your family income.

5. Your personalized treatment plan

Before you leave, you know what we recommend, why, how many visits it takes and what it costs. There is no pressure to decide on the spot: take the plan home and talk it over with your family.

Need care we do not provide? If you need treatment outside the scope of a denturist, such as extractions, we will refer you to a trusted oral health professional and coordinate your denture around it.

How to Prepare for Your Denture Consultation

Bring your current denture

Even if it is broken or you no longer wear it. It tells us a lot about your bite and what to improve.

Bring your coverage details

Your CDCP member card or letter, private insurance card, or ODSP information so we can check your coverage.

List your medications

Some medications cause dry mouth or affect your gums, which can change the best denture option for you.

Write down your questions

Cost, timing, eating, speaking, appearance: no question is too small. Bring a family member if you like.

Denture Consultation: Frequently Asked Questions

Is the denture consultation free?

Yes. Your first denture consultation at our Guelph clinic is free and comes with no obligation. Call (226) 898-3848 to book.

Do I need a referral to see a denturist in Guelph?

No. In Ontario you can book directly with a Registered Denturist. No referral is needed for a denture consultation.

Can you tell me if the CDCP will cover my dentures?

We explain how the Canadian Dental Care Plan works for dentures and help you with the process. Complete, partial and immediate dentures are covered up to 100% of the CDCP fee guide, depending on your family income. Implant-supported dentures are not covered.

What if I already have a denture that does not fit?

Bring it to your consultation. Many loose dentures can be relined or repaired instead of replaced, which costs less and is faster.
