A denturist is a regulated oral health professional who examines patients and designs, makes, fits, repairs and relines removable dentures. In Ontario, denturists are registered with the College of Denturists of Ontario.
No. You can book directly with a Registered Denturist. Call (226) 898-3848 to book your free consultation.
A dental technician makes dental appliances in a lab, usually without seeing the patient. A denturist works directly with you: examines your mouth, takes impressions, makes the denture and fits it.
The cost depends on the type of denture, the materials and your needs. We give you a clear quote at your free consultation, before any work starts.
Yes. The CDCP covers removable dentures (complete, partial and immediate), plus repairs and relines. It pays up to 100% of the CDCP fee guide when your adjusted family net income is under $70,000 (60% from $70,000 to $79,999, and 40% from $80,000 to $89,999). Implant-supported dentures are not covered. We accept the CDCP at our Guelph clinic and help you through the process.
Yes. We accept private dental insurance, ODSP and the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
Most dentures have an acrylic base that looks like gums and acrylic or composite teeth. Partial dentures may also have a thin cast metal framework for strength.
New dentures usually take several appointments over a few weeks: consultation, impressions, bite records, a try-in and the final fitting. We give you a timeline at your consultation.
An immediate denture is made before your remaining teeth are removed and placed on the same day, so you are never without teeth. It needs a reline once your gums heal.
Yes. A small partial denture can replace a single tooth and is held in place by the teeth next to it.
Yes, in most cases. Removing your dentures at night lets your gums rest and gives you time to clean and soak them.
Brush them every day with a soft denture brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner, rinse after meals and soak them overnight. Regular toothpaste can scratch them.
The lower jaw has less surface to hold a denture, and the tongue moves it. A reline, a soft liner or implant-supported dentures can greatly improve stability.
Typically every 5 to 8 years, because your gums and bone change over time and denture teeth wear down. Yearly check-ups and relines help them last longer.
Most people return to a normal diet. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, chew on both sides at the same time, and add firmer foods as you get used to your denture.
Some words may feel different for the first days. Reading aloud and practising difficult words helps your tongue and lips adapt quickly. If speech problems continue, an adjustment can help.
A well-fitting denture should not need much adhesive. If you rely on a lot of adhesive to keep it in place, your denture probably needs a reline or replacement.
Some tenderness can happen in the first days, but pain is not normal. Call us for an adjustment instead of waiting: sore spots are usually easy to fix.
Call us right away at (226) 898-3848. Do not glue it yourself: home glue can damage the denture and make a proper repair harder.
A reline reshapes the inside of your denture to fit your gums again after they have changed. It makes a loose denture snug and comfortable.
They are dentures that clip onto dental implants for much more stability than a regular denture, especially for the lower jaw.
